How can I get two fingers scrolling on AVLinux ?
« on: January 12, 2019, 12:17:40 PM »
Hello,

I have a laptop on which I installed AVLinux. Before this laptop run on Debian 9, and the synaptics touchpad worked properly.

With Avlinux and the synaptics package installed I have the tap to click which works as expected but not the two fingers scrolling.

Moreover when I try
Code: [Select]
xinput list-props 12 (12 is device id), the property "libinput Scroll Method Available" seems to inform that scrolling with 2 fingers is not supported by my devices.

Yet, I have the feature on another distribution. I don't understande. Is it the default prrempted kernel which is special ? Or I miss something ?

I need the touchpad because I lack place for a mouse on my desktop.

I tried to comment the line in /etc/modeprobe.d/touchpad.conf as given in this thread https://bandshed.net/forum/index.php?topic=4202.msg24790#msg24790, sadly, without success

I tried to copy /usr/share/X11/70-synaptics.conf into /etc/X11/xorg.conf.d I have no effect libinput is yet the driver for the touchpad.

However copy /usr/share/X11/10-udev.conf into /etrc/X11/xorg.conf.d make the touchpad working with udev.

I don't understand. it looks like synaptics is completely ignored by xorg.

All stuff I found on the internet doesn't work.

I have a fedora on another laptop with a 4.19 kernel and I have synaptics driver on touchpad. It is the exact same configuration. Why it doesn't work on avlinux ?

I tried to comments line reated to touchpad in udev and I get the same error than this thread:
https://www.linuxquestions.org/questions/linux-hardware-18/synaptics-touchpad-being-detected-as-regular-mouse-in-debian-4175598189-print/

synaptics unable to detect protocol

The problem seems to be resolved by a kernel update. But I want to keep the rt kernel. Is there a mean to rebuild this kernel ?

Hi there

I am having a similar problem. I know my laptop has two-finger scrolling, but AVLinux only recognizes my touchpad as "PS/2 Generic Mouse."

I previously ran KXStudio (KDE/Ubuntu 14.04) and have also tried live-booting the current KDE Neon (18.04) and Debian with XFCE (to most accurately replicate my AVLinux setup), and my touchpad always works correctly in those other distros. They identify it as "ETPS/2 Elantech Touchpad."

I guess I'm just saying all that to say - I KNOW it's not a hardware issue! But I can't track down how to make it work in AVLinux. Anyone have any ideas?

ps I asked on LinuxQuestions.org if anyone wants to look at that thread...
