If all I wanted from AVLinux was its audio routing, that is its ability to function as a transparent layer over PulseAudio while still allowing JACK applications to play audio simultaneously, what config files, scripts and packages would I need? Assuming a Debian base.

pulseaudio-module-jack is the magic that allows pulse to route through JACK. I use Cadence to turn it on and off but it probably can be autostarted.
