Touchpad detected al PS/2 generic mouse (Toshiba Tecra Z40)
« on: September 05, 2016, 03:42:06 PM »
Good Afternoon!
I'm newbie into AV Linux, I switched from ubuntu studio for a better performance.
I have a Toshiba Tecra Z40 that I managed to get everything to work under UStudio after a while.
I've been trying for a while to solve the problem but I haven't been able to manage it under AV Linux.
I think I updated the kernel in UStudio...

Could anyone give me any hint on solving the issue please? Tapping while typing is driving me mad.

Thanks in advance!

Hi,

Which version of AV Linux? So you don't want tap click to work?

I installed this one isotester-avl64-2016.8.30
and the kernel version is 4.4.6-rt13-avl2

Yes, i want to disable tap click. and enable scrolling.

OK,

Start with this...

as Root:

Code: [Select]
mousepad /etc/modprobe.d/touchpad.conf
Now comment out the line so it looks like this:

Quote
# options psmouse proto=imps

Save the file in mousepad, Reboot and tell me if that stops automatic tap-click

Hmmm

Not sure, so the XFCE4 Mouse and Touchpad settings are no help either? It is possible Ubuntu's kernel has a special module for your touchpad that ours doesn't, or that you need to load a specific module, I can't seem to find any Google stuff other than it works with kernel 3.17+ which means it should work for you.

Any other Toshiba users out there?

Mouse and keyboard settings don't work, they recognise a PS2 mouse so I can't touch much or nothing.
meanwhile i'll try to search for the module. i'll hope to remember when i see the name.

I found the module, it is ALPS but with version 7. https://github.com/he1per/psmouse-dkms-alpsv7

The thing is that trying to build it crashes with the following message:

Ok, I solved the previous issue following instructions in here: https://github.com/he1per/psmouse-dkms-alpsv7
and I updated the module. But still isn't working! :(

Hi!

Great to hear you got it working, I will make a note of this for future kernels and we'll try to provide (or fix) the module within the kernel.
